Chocolate Pull Apart Bread

  • 40g fresh yeast

  • 500 g fine flour

  • 200 ml water

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil

Chocolate sauce

  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder (no sugar added)

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 3 tbsp cold water

  • 1 tsp vanilla

In a bowl, mix the cocoa and brown sugar, vanilla sugar until all lumps are removed. In a saucepan add the mixture with salt and water and bring to the boil over medium-medium heat. Stir constantly.

Reduce to a gentle simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat. Set aside.

Soak the yeast in lukewarm water and mix with the other ingredients. Knead for at least 8 minutes. The dough should be elastic, so add more flour or water. Place in a large bowl and cover. Leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size (might be 1 hour). Flour a large surface and stretch the dough into a rectangle. Roll out to finger thickness. Cut into 3 equal slices. Take one slice and pour 1/3 of the chocolate sauce over it. Put another layer on top and repeat this process until the last layer.

Cut the layered dough into squares and place them upright in a long baking pan.

Bake it for 25-30 minutes.
